Introduction to the Grand Canyon:
The Grand Canyon is a very large national park that holds the Colorado River.
It is one of the most visited parks.You can hike down to the Colorado River.

Park hours:The park is open 24 hours a day365 days of the year.
Visitors center hours:The visitors center is open when the park is open.

Winter: The temperature is 20-43digreese. The precipitation is 4.31 inches.

Spring: The temperature is 39-70digreese. The precipitation is 3.25 inches.

Summer: The temperature is 80-100digreese. The precipitation is 4.58 inches.

Fall: The temperature is 36-65digreese. The precipitation is 3.86 inches.

History:
The Grand Canyon became a national park in 1917.The federal government helped make it a national park. The Canyon has close to 5 million visitors each year.
President Theodore Roosevelt started a campaign to preserve the Grand Canyon and the surrounding area.



Facts:
The first American to visit the Grand Canyon was James Ohio Pattie. President Harrison made parts of the Canyon a forest reserve back in 1893. The Canyon took about 3 to 6 million years to form.The drive from rim to rim is more than 200 miles long. The hike from rim to rim
takes 3 to 4 days to complete. The Grand Canyon was discovered around 4000 years ago.









Things to see and do:
While your visiting you may see the Indian Garden. You can see the Colorado River. You can look at the animals.
There is lots of trails you can hike. You can go to the visitor's center. You can visit the garden.
