The ladies' PEO organization led the original effort to make great sand dunes a national monument in 1932. And it is one that is opened 24 hours a day every day to.Also the great sand dunes is about 150,00 acres.And the weather can get up to 140 degrees up in the great sand dunes national park.

History
It became a national park up in the 1920s all the way up to today.
The person who helped make it the person who signed the bill over for the people can make the great sand dunes national park was Herbert hover.
The history of the park is by the 1920s the dunes had became a source of pride for local people and a

potential source of tourist dollars for the local businesses. Also the members of the ladies P. E. O. sponsored a bill to congress asking for national monument status for the great sand dunes national park. It also was widely support

ed by the local people. Then the monument got an expansion into the national park also it was preserved in about 2000-2004.

Did you know that up in the spring that the great sand dunes they have mild spring temperatures like blizzards or wild winds.
Also did you know that it could take a day and a half to hike up the mountains.

Or did you know that when the snow does fall you could ski, or you could snowboard, also you can go sledding there.
