Petrified Forest is located in Holbrook,ArizonaThe size of the park is 160 miles long.The distance from Iowa to Petrified Forest is 2,320 miles away.

Park Hours
The park opens at 7am-8pm.The visiter center opens at 8am-6pm
Winter 8:00am-5:00pm
Spring 7:00am-8:00pm
Summer 7:00am-7:00pm

Climate
The climate there is spring and they get a lot of rain and summer which they get thunderstorms.Another is winter and they have an elevation of 5,000 feet and they have fall which gets colder.

History

Petrified Forest National Park became a park in December 8,1962.Teddy Roosevelt help it become a park in 1962. There sites tell that human history in the area is more than 2,000 years ago. Petrified Forest wood is almost solid crystal.A spanish explorer named Coronado first came through Arizona in 1540. The Painted Desert was purchased

  • That was about 225 million years ago in the late triassic time there were dinosaurs.
  • The Petrified Forest was set as a national monument 1906.

  • Annual visitation to the park is 600,000 people.
  • On clear days in the southwest you can see landscapes from 100 miles away. Each year, tons of petrified wood are cut down illegally.

Things to see
You will see ravens, lizards, other birds,and Amphibians.You will probably see late Triassic fossils and rocks and you will see hiking trials. You can see the visitation center and see deer and other animals.

Things to do
I will probably go to the trials see the ravens lizards and other fossils.You can also ride your bike on the trials and you can go hunting.
