Shenandoah is located in the Blue Mountains. It has beautiful views and can have wonderful climate. You'll want to come back!

Location,Size,and Distance:


It is located in Virginia just west of Washington D.C. it is about 200,000 acres big! Which makes it a fairly big park.The Park is 16 hours and 17 minutes from my hometown ,Oskaloosa, Ia, and from oskaloosa it is 983.62 miles.

Park Hours:


It is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. But portions of Skyline drive are closed during deer season. Which is from mid-november to early January.Dickey Ridge visitors center is open 5 days a week and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Closed from March to December. Bryce visitors center is open daily 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. closed from March to December.

Climate:


Winters can be severe with ice and heavy snowfall. Spring wild flowers grow and trees are in bloom.Summer

History:


It became a national park in December 1935. It was finished by the beginning of World War Two. Native Americans lived there 8,000 to 9,000 years ago. Some tools that they used can still be found every once and a while. Europeans experienced the beauty of the park while hunting and trapping. After that many settlers came to Shenandoah. They built houses and opened vacations resorts.

Facts:


Including the Brook Trout there are 35 species of fish. Big Meadows have more rare plant species than any other part of the park. Most of the 200 species of birds are better heard than seen because of the dense forest. Coyotes hunt and patrol the park for easy pickings and prey.

Things To See:


You can see the beautiful forest and hills of the park. You should go take a visit to the visitors center. Go fishing and you might see some of the many species of fish.

You can go hunting or you can go hiking on Shenandoah's beautiful hiking trails. You can go fishing in some of Shenandoah's beautiful streams. You can go visit the visitors center. you can take a nice ride down skyline drive.
